On April 28, as part of Chicago’s International Jazz Day celebrations, the 51st Street Business Association, under the direction of Executive Director, Sandra Bivens will produce the Brown Derby Jazz Series featuring Theodis Rodgers Jr. Quartet at the Little Black Pearl Art & Design Center. This special performance invites audiences to experience premier live jazz in an intimate neighborhood setting with extraordinary ambiance, on Chicago’s South Side.
Led by acclaimed pianist Theodis Rodgers Jr., the quartet features an exceptional lineup including Charles “Rick” Heath IV on drums, James Perkins on saxophones, and Runeer Brooks on bass. The evening will also showcase special guest appearances by trumpeter Mario Abney, vocalist Nanette Frank, and the dynamic 2 Brown Sisters—Maggie and Africa Brown—promising a vibrant and unforgettable celebration of jazz artistry.
