Isaiah Jones Jr. is a highly esteemed pianist based in Chicago, originally from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He is currently pursuing a Master’s degree at Northern Illinois University, where he also serves as a graduate teaching assistant. Recognized for his versatility and expressive artistry, Jones has established himself as a prominent figure on the Chicago jazz scene.
He has had the privilege of collaborating with renowned artists such as Brian Lynch, Charles Heath, Derrick Gardner, Pharez Witted, and Lenard Simpson, among others. Jones’ musical journey began in the church, where he continues to perform weekly. This foundational experience profoundly shapes his musical identity and philosophy. As co-leader of the “Elisha Organ Trio,” Jones performs regularly in Chicago and has recently completed the trio’s debut album.
ABOUT THE SERIES
The Hyde Park Jazz Society selects local jazz musicians and those with a Chicago connection to perform on the third Tuesday of the month from October to June at Café Logan. The Café will offer its full menu for purchase, including wine, beer, and a coffee bar.
Third Tuesday Jazz is presented by the Logan Center, Hyde Park Jazz Society, and 90.9FM WDCB Jazz Radio with support from the Robert S. Guttman Family Charitable Fund and friends of the Logan Center.
Admission is free; suggested donation $5, seating is first come, first served.
Parking is free in surface lot at 60th and Drexel Avenue.
