Fulton Street Collective presents Jazz Occurrence, International Jazz Day; featuring Arman Sangalang Quartet with 10 visual artists Thursday April 30th.
Continuing the tradition, artist Lewis Achenbach and Fulton Street Collective will present a Jazz Occurrence (art + music) event celebrating International Jazz Day in Chicago.
This year, we have the Arman Sangalang Quartet performing two sets in the center of the room, surrounded by ten visual artists ‘capturing the frequency in the room’ in true Jazz Occurrence fashion. In the outermost circle will be the audience, hearing and seeing the art of jazz being created in real time.
In concert, there will be an art exhibition on the walls of Fulton Street Collective curated by Ryan Miller: Jazz: America’s Music.

"It started with documenting live music through an imaginative process, but it has become much more. It now feels like a translation or an amalgam of two languages. A Jazz Occurrence is a meeting place; a tertulia of like minds. We have a dialogue about our future by using the tools of our past. This is an artistic movement. The artists from opposite banks are meeting in the rush of mid-river."
-Lewis Achenbach, founder Jazz Occurrence
